The TED talk that I watched was one done by Ramsey Musallam. He talked a lot about how to keep your students involved in the class. He began by talking about confusing your students in order to perplex them and have them create great questions. He wants teachers to really reach out to their students and get them to ask really good questions. He wants teachers to be able to cultivate curiosity. He was told that he had a life threatening incident and was enlightened by it. He came out of the surgery and began to realize that making students question everything is the best way for them to learn.
When Ramsey talks about making students question everything, it brings me back to my sophomore year of high school. My chemistry teacher reminds me a lot of Ramsey Musallam. He wanted us to be curious. He tried to get us to want to learn more about the world, but not only learn more, question more. My teacher always told us that the day we stop questioning things is the day that we stop learning. I was never sure how he got us to question everything the way he did, how would you go about cultivating curiosity in your classroom?
